One of the main features of fate seen in the play is the party scene. In the play a young servant cannot read and is asked to get someone to help him. However in the film a news broadcast talks of a Capulet party. What’s interesting is the choice in both the film and the play. With both of these announcements being used to inform Juliet and Romeo in the most unlikely way about the party that was about to occur. Both the characters and Juliet chose to attend the party.
There is more than one of these in the play in which god seems to show the people that they have a choice in the matter. In this case it revolves around a idea that states that even if God steers your course you can still jump off the boat. Another case of this in when Romeo is forced to watch the fight between Mercutio and Tybalt However The problem is found when Romeo chooses to go and fight Tybalt.
This is an interesting in the sense that god won’t go against free will (the sense that you have the freedom to choose and the right to do what you want). This idea is explored in the movie Bruce Almighty and Evan Almighty. In Bruce almighty Bruce is given gods powers with the exception that he can’t mess with free will. In Evan Almighty this is also explored in which God attempts to get Evan to do what he wants without effecting most of his free will this includes not controlling him or changing point of view.
In addition William Shakespeare also shows how he won’t go against the sense that god is a being of good by not showing him as an evil figure. The way he did this is by introducing the fact that God had to do this to the two lovers for the families it stop fighting. The interesting thing about this is how the family cannot put away there feud for years but when the two youngest members if their family die if there love it is really heartfelt and sincere.
The most interesting thing about the play is when the play ends it leaves so many unanswered questions when the play ends. However the main thing Shakespeare never forgets is that his plays are always staying true to all of his works.
We see how Shakespeare does this in act 1 scene V in this scene Romeo and Benvolio meet a stranger who has a guest list to a party. This is where we see god use his hand of fate over the characters however to show how true his is to God Shakespeare acknowledges this by giving the characters ‘freedom’ over what they do.
We see this also in act 4 scene 2 in which friar Lawrence asks friar John if he has delivered the letters to Romeo but has to humbly tell him he hasn’t because the town he was in was quarantined. This is to signify how the power and hand of god works.
